  • 2. You can now borrow a wide range of Children’s eBooks and Audio books from Lancashire Libraries
  • 3. A child’s account can also be set up to suit their reading ages
  • 4. We now have a separate eReading Room especially for Kids Suitable for children up to 11-12 and with no adult content bit.ly/ebooks4kids
  • 5. To get started… Visit our Download Library at www.lancashire.gov.uk/ebooks
  • 6. To borrow books to read on tablets, phones or in your browser You’ll just need • your library card number • and library PIN • if the child is under 13 years
  • 7. To borrow books to read on computers and eReaders and MP3 players You’ll also need • a valid email address • even if the child is under 13 years
  • 8. Logging in To login, you use your normal library card number and PIN
  • 9. our Library eBooks and Audio books May only be borrowed by library members living in the Lancashire area (Most adjacent authorities also offer a similar service to their users)
  • 10. Setting up Click on the Account symbol to go to the Bookshelf and then click on Settings
  • 11. Setting up Under ‘Maturity level’ you can set an appropriate range Only books within this range will be displayed and can be borrowed on this account
  • 12. Browse the Library … Using the Menu or Search for an author or title
  • 13. Show me… There are lots of ways to help you find the book you want
  • 14. Show me… Included in the choices are several ways to choose the right books for a child’s age and reading ability
  • 15. Reading levels and content You’ll find more information on reading and maturity levels in the eBook library help section bit.ly/readlevels bit.ly/matulevels
  • 16. Kids eReading Room The eReading Room is accessed via a link in the middle of the eBook Library homepage
  • 17. Kids eReading Room It has a more child friendly look and feel than the main eBook Library but has the same options to browse and search
  • 18. Kids eReading Room On any device or browser, once you’ve visited the eReading room, it will always go straight back there* when the eBook library is accessed. Unless the ‘Full Site’ button is used *Cookies need to be enabled for this
  • 19. Kids eReading Room Whilst in the eReading Room, the ‘Maturity level’ settings don’t show and can’t be altered
  • 20. Kids eReading Room And the eReading Room only displays books suitable for ages up to approximately 11- 12 years by default
  • 21. One click You can now Browse and Borrow or Reserve with one click
  • 22. Read anywhere you can read and access all features Within your internet browser using OverDrive Read without downloading
  • 23. Read anywhere includes many new features  Read a sample before you borrow  One click to Borrow  One click to Return  Read Anywhere  Online or Offline*  No software needed  No registration necessary

  • 25. Before you Download  You’ll need to download & install software on your computer  Register with an email address  Download an App on your tablet or smart phone
  • 26. Once downloaded… • eBooks can be transferred to most eReaders • Audio books can be transferred to most Audio players or CD
  • 27. Library eBooks can be read on… a PC or laptop  a tablet or smart phone
  • 28. Library eBooks can be read on… most eReaders but not Kindles Library eBooks can’t be wirelessly downloaded to your eReader
  • 29. BUT Library eBooks can be downloaded wirelessly and read on Tablets including Kindle Fire
  • 30. You can listen to Library audio books a PC or laptop  a tablet or smart phone on…
  • 31. You can listen to Library audio books on… most Audio players  or on your stereo if you transfer them to CD
