But, if you want to read an eBook that's not available to read online or wish to read the book on an eReader, you'll need to download, which requires installing software on your computer. Here a guide to how to download our Library eBooks.

    • Follow the Set Up procedureClick „Next‟ then Install and, finally„Close‟
    • You will need to click ‘I Agree’ tothe terms and conditionsthen the Setup Assistant willlaunch. Click „Continue‟
    • You will now be asked toAuthorize the ComputerYou will need to do so to borrowand transfer Library eBooks
    • To Authorize the Computer you’llneed an Adobe registration (free)Click ‘get an Adobe ID online’

    • You now need to fill in a formBut only need to enter the detailsmarked with a red asterisk *
    • Once you’ve registeredYou can enter your email addressand Adobe password into DigitalEditions
    • This will activate Digital EditionsAnd you can now download LibraryeBooks
    • OverDrive Media Console will now download and addthe book to your bookshelf.Go to your accountand click ‘Download’ on a book you’veborrowed
    • Downloadingyour browser should start the downloadAnd when prompted, choose ‘Open’ not„Save‟
    • You can now start readingstraightaway on your computer
    • The ‘Library’ in Adobe will showyour eBooks and loan periodIt will also show if a loan has expired
    • Expired loans can no longer beread, so you can delete themClick on the „Item Options‟ arrow next to thebook and choose „Delete Item‟
    • You can also return an itembefore the loan expires, so youcan borrow moreClick on the „Item Options‟ arrow next to thebook and choose „Return Borrowed Item‟
    • Once you have downloaded abookThe „Return Title‟ button will disappear fromthat item in your online account.You can now only return it via Adobe DigitalEditions
    • Read on an eReaderOnce you’ve chosen and downloaded thebook you want to transferMake sure you have „Adobe DigitalEditions‟ open on your computer
    • Now connect your eReader to yourcomputerYou may need toclick ‘Connect’On your device
    • ‘Adobe’ should now detect youreReaderWhich will appear in the left hand menu.The ‘Device Setup Assistant’ will launch
    • Click to authorize your deviceClick ‘Finished’ and you’re ready totransfer your eBook
    • To transfer the eBook to youreReaderClick & hold on the item and drag it overyour eReader’s icon on the left. When the‘+’ turns green, release the mouse button
    • Adobe will now copy the eBook toyour eReader
    • The eBook will appear amongst thelist of items now on your eReaderAnd you can nowdisconnect and startreading
    • FAQs1Q. You say that Library eBooks can‟t be readon Kindle eReaders. I have a Kindle Fire, can Iread your eBooks on this?1A. As the Kindle Fire is actuallya Android OS tablet computernot an eReader, it is possible toread Library eBooks on a„Fire‟, using the same App asyou would for any other Androidtablet or smartphone.(see our separate guide)
