    • These included:
    • Manage all media types
    • Creation of sub-records relating images within a main record
    • Associate multiple images with individual records
    • Accommodate international standards
    • Accommodate multiple users
    • Allow Administrators to hide confidential information
    • Produce reports/statistics
    • Accommodate workflow
    • Support complex and hierarchical record links through indexes
  • 4. Authority Controls
    • The system had to:
    • Allow for the development of thesauri
    • Accommodate the import and export of data from other applications
    • Allow for the linking of indexes during cataloguing and the insertion of relevant subject headings
  • 5. General
    • Be able to deal with multiple sites/collections where searchers can be limited to searching the holdings of one particular collection
    • Be flexible and develop in accordance with the changing needs of the collections
    • Allow for the expansion of the collection
    • Allow for the import and export of records
  • 6. Additional Requirements
    • Allow for image manipulation (Zoom, rotate, invert, click on elements of a particular image…)
    • Support all standard image formats and be able to upgrade according to advances in technology
    • Be compatible with standard image editing applications
    • Facilitate the protection of images (eg. By encryption, watermarks, banners etc…) in individual records but allow this to be disabled according to administration privileges.
