INTRODUCTIONIn Ireland many sports, such as boxing, hockey, rowing, cricket,rugby union, Gaelic football and hurling, are organised in an all-island basis, with a single team representing the whole of Irelandin international competitions.The most practiced and followed are Gaelic football and hurling.
  3. 3. GAELIC FOOTBALLIs a sport played between two teams of 15 players on arectangular grass pitch.The objective of the sport is to scorepoints by passing the ball through the other teams goals, aset of two upright posts separated by a crossbar 2.5 metresabove the ground.
  4. 4. HURLINGHurling is an outdoor team game of 15 players for team. Theobject of the game is for players to use a wooden stick calledhurley to hit a small ball between the opponents goalpostseither over the crossbar for one point, or under the crossbarinto a net guarded by a goalkeeper for one goal, which isequivalent to three points.
