Downloading Basics• The County of Los Angeles • You’ll need to download and Public Library is excited to install the OverDrive App to offer thousands of free eBooks your device. Install OverDrive App Download & Install the free OverDrive App from the iTunes storeNote: This slideshow has screenshots from an iPad & iPod Touch

Set up: Add a Library1 2 34 5 The first time you use the app, you’ll need to select the County of Los Angeles Public Library1. Click Get Books + 4. Click the star next to County of2. Click Add to Library Los Angeles. It will turn yellow.3. Search for your library 5. Click on County of Los Angeles, and the mobile site will open

Finding eBooks The OverDrive App reads EPUB eBook. Select the EPUB format eBook.• Browse Featured eBooks ~ or ~• Click Browse to search Adobe EPUB ebooks

Checking Out (1)• When you find a title you want, Add to Cart• Click Proceed to Checkout

Checking Out (2)• Log in with your library card number (no spaces)• You can change the lending period (7, 14, 21 days)• Confirm check out

Download Checked Out eBook • Download the book & enjoy! • The first time you use the app, you’ll need to Authorize the app by setting up an Adobe ID (next slide)

One Time Set-Up: Adobe ID (1) • The first time you use the app, you’ll need to Authorize the app by setting up an Adobe ID • Click Get a Free Adobe ID, and Adobe’s website will open • Create a free Adobe ID

One Time Set-Up: Adobe ID (2) • Return to OverDrive’s app. Go to Get Books  Settings  Authorize • Enter the email address and password for your Adobe ID • Click Authorize • Note: If you would like to download the same eBook to another computer or device, be sure to authorize using the same Adobe ID.

Reading eBooks (1)• Your Bookshelf will list your checked out titles, and how many days you have remaining.• Open eBooks on your Bookshelf by clicking on the title.

Reading eBooks (2) Brightness iPad iPod Touch Change Font• Change margins, font & font size, background color, and brightness to suit your needs.

Free Public Domain eBooks• In addition to the eBooks from OverDrive, you have access to thousands of out-of-copyright titles. These do not count toward your 10 item check out limit.• “Classics” and public domain books by Jane Austen, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Mark Twain, etc.• Many titles on high school & college core reading lists.
