  • Bullying at School is sadly something that has become fairly common. With all of the peer pressure and constant negative feelings in kids. As a parent, the challenges include identifying when your child has been bullied and determining the best response. Help your child understand not to bully back by explaining the situations that may happen if a child becomes a bully himself and encourage your child to avoid and ignore the bully. As a way of helping everyone especially the parents, who still find it quite hard to manage issues like this, I found this great application which featured a safety app which gets me connected to a Safety Network or escalate my call to the nearest 911 when needed, it has other cool features that are helpful for your kids with just a press of a Panic Button.       Bullying is happening all over.
      Sometimes students cross the line.
      They cross into the red zone…
    • WHAT IS BULLYING?
      Teacher asks the advisement class, what are some definitions of bullying…

      When someone else does something that causes emotional or physical harm that usually is..
      REPEATED
      INTENTIONAL
      POWER-BASED
    • WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES?
      Teacher asks the advisement class, what are some examples of bullying…
    • The Different Forms of Bullying WE DON’T DO TO ONE ANOTHER
      Name calling that’s demeaning (Looks, Weight, Sexual Remarks, etc)
      Racial, Religious or Terroristic Comments
      Isolating/Excluding
      Threatening remarks, gestures or actions
      Spreading Rumors and Lies
      Attacking anyone Physically
      * Anything above done electronically by words or pictures, (Facebook, Texting, Voice Mail, etc)
    • What is a Red Zone Report?
      A SAFE & CONFIDENTIAL way for students to report bullying incidences & other conflicts
      Not to be used or abused to get back at a student or teacher
      Not to be used to tattle...only use for reporting of legitimate bullying incidences
      Not to be used or abused as a joke
    • When to use a Red Zone Report?
      When you feel you are being bullied
      When you are a witness to someone being bullied
    • Validate person filling out form!
      Perpetrator
    • What do I do with a Red Zone Report?
      Find a RZR by every classroom door, front office, media center, and cafeteria/lunchroom.
      Give it to any teacher or school staff member
      When a teacher receives a form, he/she will give it to the homeroom teacher of the student being reported.
      Homeroom Teacher will record any action taken on the report (#1talk to the student being reported, #2 talk to the parent, #3 refer to counselor or administrator)
      Refer immediately to an Administrator for major bullying offenses (physical, sexual, terroristic)
    • WHAT IS A BYSTANDER?
      Teacher asks the advisement class, what is a bystander and how can they stop bullying…
    • How can Bystanders Stop Bullying?
      Distract the bully by creating a diversion
      Get an adult to step in and help
      Tell the bully to stop
      Stand next to the person being bullied
      Give encouragement, support and help to the person being bullied
      Always Fill out a Red Zone Report
    • In conclusion…
      Lets create an environment at LMS where all of us are standing up to bullying.
      It only takes one bystander to stop bullying
