  • 2. UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON
  • 3. INTRODUCTION
    • Benetton came in India in 1991.
    • More than 106 stores across 45 cities in India.
    • The retail network is a mix of owned and franchised stores.
    • Most of these are mega stores, with size more than 4,500 square feet and an increased focus on apparel for men, women and kids.
    • India has emerged the fifth largest market for the group for regions outside Europe.
  • 4. TREND FORECASTING FOR UCB:
    • The trend forecasting would be based upon movies, sports, status, culture, lifestyle, nightlife cultureand other such factors.
    • The Female customers would require clothing for :
    • College wear : trendy, hip, fresh and in vogue.
    • Party wear : stylish, creative drapes and experimental hem lines.
    • Work wear : mix and match stylish shirts with work pants , easy to move around garments, In Vogue to depict intelligence and confidence

    • In order to do the trend forecasting for S/S 2010 for Women’s garments , the following points need to be considered:
    • Target Segment /Clientele : trendy, educated ,upper middle class ,female clientele with good fashion knowledge.
    • Benetton attracts the working and college girls with its collection of colourful, revolutionary and chic designs.
  • 6. DECIDING FACTORS
    • Consumer Psyche – Since recession is almost over, more celebrating colors will be in trend. But at the same time we will be seeing sub dull colors also.
    • The Environment – The loose fit silhouette will be in fashion, cotton, linen, silk will take over the synthetic fibers. Sheer / See through fabric will be in trend.
    • The Events – Commonwealth games, Vacation Outings, etc will lead to inclusion of sporty look in the outfits. Ripped jeans are back as an impact of Hollywood movies and celebrities.
    • Direct Inputs from Textile manufacturers - Fashion forecasters play an important role in deciding the type of fabric to be manufactured based on the feedback obtained from the consumers. They coordinate with the textile manufacturers and decide on the type of textile to be manufactured for the forthcoming season.
    • Consumer surveys and preferences - Consumer preferences are the key to trend forecasting in the fashion industry and are usually influenced by the fashion styles followed by their icons and idols.

  • 9. COMMONWEALTH GAMES
    • Colours associated with the event – red , yellow and blue
    • Huge event in the country affecting the youth & masses
    • Bringing in lots of energy and spark among the people of the country
  • 10. FORMULA ONE IN INDIA
    • Red bull team supports the colour Blue .
    • STR Farrari has the predominant colour Blue .
    • Renault has shades of blue and yellow.
    • The event in India will create awareness and establish interest in the above colours.
  • 11. FOOTBALL WORLD CUP 2010
    • The World cup would also influence to a great deal. The brighter Colours in terms of team colours of Brazil, would give more life to Yellow and Green. Argentina in terms of lighter shades of Blue. Italy in white and blue
  • 12. CELEBRITIES
    • The most influential female celebrities in 2010 are expected to be -
    • Kareena Kapoor
    • Katrina Kaif
    • (acc to a survey conducted by Inernational Fashion Magzine VERVE)
    • Deepika Padukone have also been in limelight because of her style sense in BOLLYWOOD.
  • 13. MOVIES
    • Trends seem to be inspired from number of
    • animated movies releasing in 2010.
    • Animatede movies specifically effect fad
            • Movies like kurbaan, kites, rann, de dana dan and pyaar impossible may effect the fashion statement and introduce new style
  • 14. Brings in the concept of STOLLS again
  • 15. Puffed sleeves and stripes are going to be in vogue.
  • 16. COLOR FORECAST
  • 17. As the economy is recovering from slowdown, people are hopeful and optimistic about future. Yellow evokes feelings of happiness, symbolizes sunlight, joy, optimism, intelligence, idealism, wealth (gold), summer, hope, air, liberalism, femininity, gladness, sociability, friendship, 
  • 18. For summer, it's not about aggression or power , it's about being positive and being a real woman .

    • Blue has more life and more depth than black because it is the color of the sky on a moonlit night. It is mysterious, moody, classic, timeless, calming, and refreshing. It is charming, classy and elegant.  We can conclude for Spring 2010 Blue remains timeless. It can be bold or quiet. Color communicates and transmit a vibe and all the designers now has a feeling for a free spirit. This blue collections wil giving women a good reason to get in shape.  Blue is fresh, colorful, funky, youthful, I'm imagining how those pro black will react - It will surely overwhelm them Or it might be an eye opening for all fashionista.

  • 21. COLOURS OF THE SEASON
    • Next season we will plunge into a sea of bright and vivid colors: fuchsia, orange, green and many other colors revitalized many collections.
    • The bright colors act as antidotes to the current recession, transforming fashion into something more fun and light-hearted for women, whose mood has been sorely tried by the crisis
  • 22. TRENDS SILHOUETTES AND STYLES

    • The fit for 2010 would move towards a more comfortable yet stylish look.
    • We need to be aware that people are moving more towards a healthy lifestyle which would translate in leaner physiques. A lot more people are going to the Gymnasium to build a healthy lifestyle for themselves. And it would be very natural to flaunt these well built physiques. The best way that this well built healthy physiques would be flaunted would be in terms of body accentuating garments around the waist.
  • 24. SILHOUETTE STYLING FORECAST THE TREND THAT WAS… Sprint-summer2010 we will get to see looser look
  • 25. LOWER GARMENTS A looser fit along the thighs and tighter towards the ankle. A wider belt at the waist, attached to the lower garment, to give a slim look. It would be loose and comfortable for summers.
  • 26. UPPER GARMENT
    • A loose garment which is tight only around the waist.
    • The waist belt would wider like in the first figure.
    • Would have wide and loose sleeves with V-shaped wide neck.
  • 27. OVERSIZED BLAZERS
    • One size bigger so as to more comfortable as the silhouettes expected to be more loose rather than body fit
    • Rolled up sleeves perfect for accented shoulders making the look more feminine
  • 28. THE TOTAL LOOK Jackets will be in fashion which are comfortable to in hand movement. They are also stylish in terms of the fabric they use.
  • 29. OFFICE WEAR
    • The well known garment, the jacket, takes centre stage, with dresses, shirts, skirts and trousers as its co-stars.
    • New textiles (on a cotton base) & patterns revive drapery.
    • Reversible fabrics with patterns on one side & plain on the other create a special "double cloth" effect.

    • Draped over the figure these garment shapes, give a relaxed, soft and floaty look.
    • White, grape red, blue, beige and grey are the colours of the theme.
