    • word from the Head We would like to extend a sincere welcome to you and hope that our school brochure conveys a sense of the warmth and friendliness that you are bound to experience on a visit to the school. We are proud of our heritage and traditions – the history of our school makes fascinating reading and places us in a unique position within the local community. The aim of the school is to provide all students with an educationalexperience which allows them to achieve academic results and provideopportunities for them to grow in confidence and as leaders. All studentsare encouraged and supported to develop skills and qualities to takeforward into the future – whatever that future will be. Aspirations hereare high and we strive to maintain an ethos where all students areencouraged to aim high and develop their talents. We are a supportive and caring school. Relationships between studentsand staff are outstanding and all our young people are known asindividuals with their own strengths and personality. This is a happyschool. We work hard but know how to have fun along the way. Thehouse system is just one example of students working together acrossthe year groups in a very healthy, competitive way in areas such as sport, music, drama and debating.Former students tell us that they have fond memories of their timeat Crossley Heath and that their experiences here have made themconfident young people with the highest aspirations for themselvesand the contributions they can make to the world. Ofsted judged ourschool to be ‘Outstanding’ in February 2011 and we receive many publicaccolades for the quality of our provision but I would encourage you tovisit the school and experience the positive and vibrant atmosphere foryourself. 1
