  2. 2. What is Digital Citizenship?A Digital Citizen can be categorized as someone who uses the internet regularly.This can be achieved using a computer and/or mobile device to acquire information about anything.
  3. 3. Youth in Digital CitizenshipPeople are finding that the younger generations are more so using the internet to acquire everyday information.They are using the internet more so than watching the news, reading newspaper articles, or hearing it from a knowledgeable scorce.
  4. 4. EducationalSome teachers argue that digital citizenship helps students gain more knowledge faster versus older methods.Younger people also seem to be more eager to "look something up..." rather than picking up a newspaper and read the article.
  5. 5. CommunicationDigital Citizenship has allowed communication to become easier for users around the globe.Examples: Social networks, E-mail, Texting, Instant Messaging, and video chatting.
  6. 6. Digital EtiquetteAlthough going digital is something fairly new, we must return to our old ways in order to make it a safe and fun environment for everyone.Digital Etiquette is simply having manners on the internet.
  7. 7. Digital LawThe internet can be used for information but it can also be used for bad things.It is important for users to familiarize themselves with the Digital Law when using the internet to avoid future consequences.
  8. 8. Digital rightsThe title "citizen" means you get certain rights in a scociety right?Its no different in the digital world. Each user has rights when it comes to using the internet. Such as freedom of speech.
  9. 9. Health and WellnessThe internet is a great source of information but also a lot of fun. Beware of over usage.Over usage of the internet can make the user prone to addiction causing their physical and mental condition to be affected.
  10. 10. Digital SecurityThe internet will sometimes ask you for personal information. It is up to the user to decide if he or she trusts this website.Example, Online banking may ask for personal financial information whereas a "Win me" pop up will ask for your social security number. Which one sounds safer?
  11. 11. Identity Theft.Just like in real life, users on the internet can be robbed.Users must be careful when putting personal information on the internet, the can be prone to Identity Theft. Where another user uses your information for their own personal use.
  12. 12. Access to the digital world.Although the digital world is huge, we must remember that not all users have access to the internet.We must, as a society, provide some form of the internet to the youth in order to strive for a better future.
  13. 13. Making purchases on theweb.Users can now buy things on the web rather than going to an actual store.But be careful with the goods you buy, users must still follow the basic digital laws when making purchases. Dont try and look for any freebies.
  14. 14. Getting involved.Not only can users "use" the internet. They can create things and join the community.Users can now share their ideas with others such as writing blogs, or articles on a website.
  15. 15. Leaving your mark...Everything a user does on the internet is there forever. Even if they hit the delete button.Users must be aware of what they post or comment on a never know whos reading.
  16. 16. The invisible audienceAlthough the internet is a great way for users to connect with friends and family, it is also a way to connect with strangers. Users must keep in the back of their head the "invisible audience" method. Although you cant see everyone, keep in mind that their there.
  17. 17. False informationUsers also need to be aware that even though the internet is a great source of information, not all of it it necessarily correct.Users must be wary of websites that sound bias or non educational. Remember: Anyone can post anything.
