Abraham Lincoln <ul><li>Abraham Lincoln was the 16 th president of the United States. </li></ul><ul><li>His nickname was “ Honest Abe .” </li></ul><ul><li>He was born in a log cabin . </li></ul><ul><li>Although very poor, he taught himself to read and became a lawyer before being president. </li></ul>

Martin Luther King, Jr. <ul><li>Martin Luther King, Jr. was an African American citizen who worked for the fairness of all people . </li></ul><ul><li>There is a holiday in February to celebrate and remember how Martin Luther King, Jr. worked so that all people would be treated fairly. </li></ul>
  • 8. Benjamin Franklin <ul><li>Benjamin Franklin proved that electricity was in lightning. </li></ul><ul><li>He started the first library and the first volunteer fire department . </li></ul>
  • 9. George Washington Carver <ul><li>George Washington Carver was an African American who studied science and plants . </li></ul><ul><li>He developed hundreds of uses for the peanut, sweet potato and soy bean. </li></ul>
