  • File Jockey for IBM SmartCloud Marten Vosmer posted this on December 2013 You can now use File Jockey for IBM SmartCloud. All you need is an iPad, iPhone or Android device and a WebDAV client like Goodreader (iOS) or FolderSync (Android) and your SmartCloud account. With the File Jockey cloud server hooked up to IBM SmartCloud environment its easy to sync your SmartCloud files to the Goodreader for offline usage. That's what we call real file sync for IBM SmartCloud! The best WebDAV client is Goodreader, it is great in syncing files from all sorts of file servers. There are many more apps that focus on other tasks like Notability, which is my favorite in note taking. You can use any app that's support WebDAV to work with the files in IBM SmartCloud via the Lialis File Jockey server. Goodreader - SmartCloud Notability - SmartCloud In the Notability app press the gear button and choose WebDAV. In the Goodreader app press the Add button and choose WebDAV server. Set the WebDAV server connection like this. Enter you own SmartCloud credentials. Fill in the SmartCloud connection settings: https://smartc.lialis.com and use our own SmartCloud login Marten Vosmer: +31 (6) 22473076 | marten.vosmer@lialis.com | http://www.file-jockey.com
  • Click the Add button in the right corner and your Goodreader will show a new server connection. Click Link An Auto-Backup message is presented. Click Ok When you press it the Goodreader will show you all the files and folders listed in your SmartCloud environment. Click Close in the right upper corner to close the Settings window You can now Import files by clicking the share button in the right upper corner In this example we will select the Community folder in order to sync all Community's files to the iPad for offline usage. Please press on Communities once, it will turn Green. Select WebDAV. The available folders and files in SmartCloud will be presented Marten Vosmer: +31 (6) 22473076 | marten.vosmer@lialis.com | http://www.file-jockey.com
  • The press the Sync button at the bottom of this Window. A Download & Synchronize message is presented. Select the folder which contains the files you want to work with and select Import Files in the upper right corner Click Proced and choose a folder where you want to sync the files to, for example Downloads. Push the Import button and the files will be downloaded and imported After selecting a location, the sync parameters are presented. When the import process is ready, the files are presented in the app Marten Vosmer: +31 (6) 22473076 | marten.vosmer@lialis.com | http://www.file-jockey.com View slide
  • Fill them like in the picture and press the Sync button at the upper right corner of the window. Now the Goodreader will sync all the communities with all the files to the iPad for quick off line usage. When you’re ready with modifying the document, you can upload them back to SmartCloud. By pushing All Notes you can select multiple files to upload at once. When the Goodreader completes the sync you will see this great green Sync button on your screen. Push the share button in the left upper corner and choose WebDAV Every time you push it Goodreader will download or upload new documents from and to IBM SmartCloud. Isn't this great? • The WebDAV destination settings are presented. You can select the requested location by clicking Folders/ Push Send to WebDAV and the files will be uploaded to SmartCloud You may use the File Jockey URL hooked up to IBM SmartCloud https://smartc.lialis.com* in any WebDAV client on any mobile device or computer program, with any WebDAV enabled app (WebDAV Nav; iAnnotate PDF; OverTheAir; DocsAs…Note; ReaddleDocs; Keynotes; Pages; and Numbers and FolderSync, ...). *This URL will not work in browsers. What about Security? Security: On the File Jockey Cloud server we cache the clients documents send to or received from the IBM SmartCloud servers to improve the speed of the File Jockey server. These files are stored encrypted on the File Jockey server and are removed after 60 minutes from the File Jockey server when the files are not used by the users. Lialis cannot and will not read these documents. Marten Vosmer: +31 (6) 22473076 | marten.vosmer@lialis.com | http://www.file-jockey.com
  • The client's credentials, set on the mobile device, are given to the File Jockey server which passes these credentials to the IBM SmartCloud server. Lialis does not log the client's passwords, only the user names are logged on the File Jockey server. The File Jockey server does not check if the user's credentials are valid. It will allow any user (who knows the File Jockey URL) to pass thru to the IBM SmartCloud server. The File Jockey Cloud servers run on Amazon EC2 server which is secured by Amazon security groups and firewalls. File Jockey Cloud runs on Apache Tomcat. Terms of use!
