Question 7

  1. 1. QUESTION 7:Looking back at your preliminary task, what do youfeel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
  2. 2. P R E L I M I N A RY TA S K A N D T H I N G S T H AT I H AV E L E A R N TThe preliminary task we did was very straightforward and easy to do because each of us in ourgroup has to have a go at filming, acting and editing. As a result of that, I have learnt that I was notgood at panning the camera as it was quite rough, how to edit small clips into a whole clip, shotreverse shot, match on action and 180 degree rule. While I was filming. I took a long shot of aperson walking down the corridor as a starter. Then used a close up shot to show the match onaction rule and to see which hand he was using. When both of them were having a conversation, Iused a shot reverse shot when the other person was sat in a chair opposite to the other person. Bydoing this, it should show the continuity task that we were asked to do. After filming it, I edited theshort clips that I filmed and put it all together in a large video by using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. Imake sure that the timing between a person walking down the corridor and opening the doorshould match.
  3. 3. H OW D I D I T H E L P W I T H M Y M A I N P RO D U C T I O NThe preliminary task helped me by using the same software forediting the clips we took into a whole video and add some transitionsto make the clips flow smoothly with each other. I have learntdifferent shot types, angles and techniques which we used on ourmedia product to make our film opening look interesting. And also Iknow what to look out for like using the microphone, we have tomake sure that it isn’t included in the video.
  4. 4. D U R I N G O U R P R E L I M I N A RY TA S KThe things that I found easy was most of the filming process apart frompanning it quickly and editing the clips by putting them all together and addedsome transitions. And while I was acting, I did not laugh which is good for mebecause the roles are not supposed to be funny. I did not get the microphone inthe video which one of our group got included on her video. The only thing Iknow that I have to improve on is to pan it slowly and smoothly.
  5. 5. H OW E X P E R I E N C E S I N F L U E N C E / H E L P OUR FILM OPENINGWe did not do much sound editing during our preliminary task so when weadjusted the sound like normalising it was a new skill for me but when addedsome effects or transitions to the sounds so it fits in was quite a hard for me at thestart but I have picked up now. As a whole group learnt, I have learnt about thecommunication between us all was good because when we had problems andneeds to think of new ideas for our film, we came up with it and helping eachother out. We discuss and decide things as a group instead of doing separatethings.
