  2. 2. From the 1st of Decemberto the 24th of Decemberchildren have adventcalendars which they openevery day.Behind the doors arechocolates or a picture.We open the doors to countdown the days untilChristmas.
  3. 3. Some families have anadvent candle.This is a candle with 24marks on and is also tocount down the daysuntil Christmas.Every day a bit more ofthe candle is burnt down.
  4. 4. The children write letters to Father Christmas to ask for presents.Good children getpresents.
  5. 5. Naughty children get a bag of coal.
  6. 6. The 24th of December is Christmas Eve.On Christmas Eve people sing in the streets andknock on doors to ask for money for charity.They are called Carol Singers.
  7. 7. On the night before Christmas some people go toMidnight Mass.This is a special service at church where peoplecome together to sing Christmas songs.It starts at midnight!
  8. 8. Christmas Eve is the night Father Christmascomes and bring presents for the children.Children hang stockings at the end of their bedor on the fireplace and wait for their presents.
  9. 9. Children leave out food for Father Christmas andthe Reindeer. Biscuits and milk for Father Christmas Carrots for the Reindeer
  10. 10. On Christmas Day, we open our presents andthen we watch the Queen´s speech....
