2. Front Cover
This image was edited in photoshop by inserting text to inform the
audience of what the product is and who the artist is. This was
important for our genre because a lot of indie bands wouldn’t use
the artist’s name or information because it’s their style to be more
art based. For our information, we chose a swirly girly text just to be
more lively and bubbly so the audience can tell what type of style
it is.
Another thing we paid attention to was the image we used. We
wanted to use an image to give off a cheeky affect to sell the
artist. Giving the audience an image of the actual artist enables
them to get a feel of what the album is like which is what we
wanted; almost a taster.
over all, we stuck to the idea of what would catch our target
audience so we referred back to our ideal fan posts to plan what
we would put on the cover which we feel went really well.
3. First Inlay
Our first inlay was meant to be portraying the innocent
side of Katy Perry with a cheeky side to her. We chose
this image because we wanted the smile but hidden by
her hand to see she almost has a secret that you’ll
never know until you listen to her music. Its almost to
entice you to listen to it. We chose to have her hair
bouncy and curly to almost reflect her personality and
to fit in the continuity of everything else.
We also chose a simple blue dress because it shows
she’s secretive with her body but by watching the video
you may see more. Overall this image is just to create a
desire for the audience to Katy.
4. Editing of Inlay
• This was the editing of our first inlay which we did in
photoshop. Because we wanted the image to look full
of youth and with a bubbly persona, we chose to edit
out the smile lines around the eyes so it looks more
attractive and youthful.
• We also decided to use the treatment accessory on
photoshop to remove some freckles across the arms to
give a smoother affect of the arms because the main
thing is to appeal to the audience.
5. Second Inlay
The second inlay was based on showing part of the
story; a plot give away almost. We did this shot because
Katy likes to send messages to her audience about
what she intends on showing them in her videos
because its almost teasing them until they buy it.
We decided to use the heart for this image because it
represents how love was eventually found and remains
a secret to the public. This also falls under the concept
of teasing because it’s not allowing us to see what
happens when she’s finally found love. So it encourages
again to buy the album.
6. Editing of Inlay
For this inlay, we made some
Attempts at highlighting the heart
so it stands out in the image over
everything else. We decided
against this in the end because
we didn’t believe the colour had
the best effect and would stand
out too much but it was a good
test for us. We did go over the
corners though so you couldn’t
see where the light was hitting
them. We did however colour the
nails to look more neutral instead
of patchy pink; just to make it look
neater.
7. Back Cover
The back cover was made in photoshop too so
we could add song titles, barcodes and symbols
to represent our company. We had to do this
obviously to increase how believable it would be.
We also did touch ups and changed the colour
balance (did with every image) to make
everything seem brighter like Katy Perry’s other
albums. We also had to add the covers edges
down the side for this image and the front cover
to give the idea of how it would look in real life.
