  • History of Intelligence
    Intelligence is derived from a Latin word “inter-legere”(pick out).
    Intellectus became the medieval technical term of understanding.
    This entire approach to the study of nature was strongly rejected by early modem philosophers.
    All the philosophers preferred the word “Understanding” in their English philosophical works.
  • 8. WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE?
    • General cognitive problem-solving skills.
    • 9. Intelligence is what to do when you don’t know what to do.
    • 10. Intelligence may be defined as the ability to adjust to new situations.
  • TYPES OF INTELLIGENCE
  • 11. Spearman’s g- factor theory
    • He noted that all mental ability test are positively associated correlated.
    • 12. Intelligence comprised of 2 factors “g” and “s”.
    • 13. This theory is also known as two factor theory of intelligence.
  • Thurstone’s theory of intelligence
  • 14. Gardener’s theory of multiple intelligence
  • 15. Is intelligence inherited?
    • Intelligence is inherited but can also be related to the environment.
    • 16. Studies showed that heredity is an important factor.
    • 17. Eg: If a person is a singer then it is assumed that any one of his/her family member might be a good singer like LATA MANGESHKAR.
  • Can we increase our intelligence?
    • Increasing intelligence can also know as amplification/enhancing.
    • 18. Techniques to increase our intelligence are as follows:
    • 19. Deep thinking.
    • 20. Good reasoning.
    • 21. Learning from past experience.
    • 22. Practice.
