  • 3. WHAT IS TSUNAMI? Generated by an undersea geologic event, such as a great earthquake, volcanic explosion, or underwater landslide In Japanese “Tsunami” means “Harbor Wave” Also called “Seismic Sea Wave” Tsunamis are not “tidal waves”
  • 4. HOW TSUNAMIS ARE MADE?Tsunami is made by a series of waves, produced by : Earthquakes Volcanic eruptions Meteorite impact Landslides - mostly undersea.
  • 5. WHERE DO TSUNAMIS OCCUR? Tsunamis usually occur in the tropical islands. Mostly Tsunamis occur in the Pacific Ocean as it is located on a plate mostly made of water. The Pacific Ocean is also surrounded by the Ring of Fire , a highly active volcano and earthquake zone

  • 8. How can we predict Tsunami?Tsunami Warning System (TWS) are used to predict Tsunami.Also we use Seismograph – used to predict earthquake , can also be used to predict Tsunami.
