About the company:- • Linux World (‘LW’) is a fast growing ISO 9001:2008 Certified Organisation; fully governed by young and energetic Technocrats, dedicated to Open Source technologies and Linux promotion. • Today Red Hat is the world's most trusted provider of Linux and open source technology. The most recognized Linux brand in the world. 2
    3. 3. Introduction to Linux :-  Linux is an operating system that evolved from a kernel created by Linus Benedict Torvalds when he was the second year student of computer science at the University of Helsinki in 1991.  Linux is an operating system that can be downloaded free and "belongs" to an entire community of developers, not one corporate entity.  That's why Linux is known as "open source" or "free software," because there is nothing secret about this system. 3
    4. 4. What is Open Source?  Open Source: Software and Source code available to all  The freedom to distribute software and source code  The ability to modify and create derived works  The software and the source code must be freely distributable.  All must be able to modify the source code and created derived works.  All are free to modify the software.  The text of GPL can be found at http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html 4
    5. 5. Linux Principle’s Everything is a file (Including Hardware). Small, single-purpose programs. Ability to chain programs together to perform complex tasks Configuration data stored in text. 5
    6. 6. Swap partition swap partitions are used to support virtual memory. In other words, data is written to a swap partition when there is not enough RAM to store the data your system is processing 6
    7. 7. Logical Volume Manager in Linux:-  The Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) is a mechanism for virtualizing disks. 7
    8. 8. Various Servers Provided by the Linux  There are various servers provided by linux  Some are following:-  Telnet Server  Secure Shell Server (SSH)  Network File System(NFS)  Network Information System(NIS)  SAMBA server  FTP server 8
    9. 9. TELNET Server This server provides the Remote Login Service. There are two types of hosts –(1)Local Host (2) Remote Host. to install telnet server the telnet-server package is used Each server has its own configuration file. The configuration file of telnet server  To start the server services daemon For permanently install 9
    10. 10. Secure Shell Server (SSH)  This server works in encrypted form that’s why all data are sent in encrypted form and cannot be hacked. To install ssh server the openssh-server package is used Each server has its own configuration file To install ssh client the openssh-clients package is used Port no of ssh server is 22 10
    11. 11. SAMBA server  It is an open source/free software suite and allows interoperability between Linux/Unix servers and Windows-based clients. Using Linux Samba server, your Linux and Windows system can share directories and printers. FTP server  It is a standard file transfer protocol used to copy a file from one host to another over a TCP/IP-based network, such as internet. It is built on client-server architecture. It is used with user based password authentication or with anonymous user access. 11
    12. 12.  The main feature of project is to communicate client and server in a secure medium. CONCLUSION 12
    13. 13. Any Query  Please ask me any query related to my paper presentations. 13
    14. 14. Thanks  Have a nice day 14
