The Inciting Incident The Inciting Incident Presentation Transcript

  • The Inciting Incident by kalbashir.com
  • There are lots of "triggers," "pushes" and "provocations" as you work your way into act two and beyond.
  • Writers may label any one of these as the “Inciting Incident."
  • For example, writers often argue that the Inciting Incident is the very first trigger, which happens very, very, very early on.
  • Other writers argue that the Inciting Incident is the event which disrupts the protagonists world, which can happen much later.
  • And yet other writers argue that the Inciting Incident is the event which points the protagonist to the second act.
  • And still other writers argue that the Inciting Incident is the provocation which pushes the protagonist into the second act.
  • And still other writers point to other parts of the story cycle, labelling those points as the “Inciting Incident.”
  • The best way to resolve this is to understand ALL the "triggers," "pushes" and "provocations" which push the hero along the journey.
  • The 2100+ stage hero's journey / transformation / new world at kalbashir.com shows you ALL the "triggers," "pushes" and "provocations" which push the hero along the journey.
