    • Types of Quadrilateral Sharmin Nayek Roll no 42 B.ED -2010-2011
    • Content
      • Definition of Quadrilateral
      • Types of Quadrilaterals
      • Properties of different Quadrilaterals
    • Quadrilateral just means "four sides"  ( quad   means four,  lateral  means side). Any four-sided shape is a Quadrilateral But the sides have to be  straight , and it has to be  2-dimensional . Quadrilaterals
    • Types of Quadrilateral
      • There are special types of Quadrilateral
    • SQUARE
      • Definition -A quadrilateral with all congruent sides & each angle a right angle is called a Square
      A B C D ABCD is square
    • Properties of Square
      • Square has equal sides
      • Every angle is right angle
      • Opposite sides are parallel
      • Diagonals of square are congruent
      • Diagonals of square bisect each other
      • Each diagonal of square is perpendicular bisector of the other.
      A B C D O
    • Rectangle
      • A quadrilateral with each angle a right angle and opposite side congruent is called a rectangle.
      A B C D
    • Properties of rectangle
      • Every angle is right angle
      • Opposite sides are congruent
      • Opposites sides are parallel
      • Diagonals of rectangle are congruent
      • Diagonals of rectangle bisect each other
      O A B C D
    • RHOMBUS
      • A quadrilateral having all sides congruent is called a rhombus.
    • Properties of Rhombus
      • All sides are congruent
      • Opposite angles are equal
      • Opposite sides are parallel
      • The diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other
      • Each diagonals of a rhombus is the perpendicular bisector of the other.
    • PARALLELOGRAM
      • A quadrilateral which has opposite sides parallel is called a parallelogram.
    • Properties of Parallelogram
      • Opposite sides are parallel
      • Opposite sides of parallelogram are congruent
      • Opposites angles of parallelogram are congruent
      • Diagonals of parallelogram bisect each other.
    • TRAPEZIUM
      • The quadrilateral in which only one pair of opposite sides is parallel is called trapezium.
    • Properties of Trapezium
      • Only one pair of opposite side is parallel.
    • KITE
      • A quadrilateral in which there are two pairs of sides & each pair is made up of adjacent sides that are equal in length is called kite.
    • Properties of Kite
      • Adjacent sides are congruent
      • One of the diagonal bisect the other
      • Each diagonal is perpendicular bisector to other.
    • Fact File
      • Some types are also included in definition of other type !
      • For example
      • A square also fits in definition of rectangle (all angles are 90 º )
      • A rectangle also fits in definition of parallelogram (opposite sides are equal in length)
    • EVALUATION ABCD is square m AOB = ? a) Ans: 90º
      • ABCD is rectangle
      • If l(AC)=5cm then l(BD)= ?
      Ans: 5cm
    • c) ABCD is rhombus if l(DO)=2cm then l(DB)=? Ans: 4cm
    • THANK YOU
