  •  What is Digestive System?  Stages of digestion  Parts of Digestive System. -mouth. -pharynx etc..  A problem of the Digestive System -Constipation.  The Lab  Data
  •  The process of breaking down materials (food) into chemicals that give nutrients for the body.  Stages of Digestion : 1- Ingestion. 2-Digestion. 3-Absorption. 4-Elimination. Source (1,2,7)
  •  Mouth (Oral Cavity) : First part to begin the process digestion by chewing the food.  Pharynx : Receive the food from the mouth and carries the food to the stomach.  Stomach : breakdown the food.  Small Intestine : 22-feet muscular tube contains enzymes to breakdown food.  Large Intestine : Responsible for processing waste product.  Anus : is the opening where the gastrointestinal tract ends and exits the body.   •  “Constipation is a condition in which a person has fewer than three bowel movements a week or has bowel movements with stools that are hard, dry, and small, making them painful or difficult to pass.”  How common is it? It is one of the common GL diseases in the USA  Affects 42 million or 15% of the population. Source (6,7,8)
  •  What causes it? -Stool spends a lot of time in the colons. -Diets low in fiber. -Lack in Physical activity. -Life routine changes. How is Science applied? -Surgery. -exercise. Source (6,7,8,9,10)
  •  The problem : How does the temperature of hydrogen peroxide effect the gas pressure when combined with catalase enzyme?  Hypothesis : Higher pressure generally causes more collisions among the molecules and therefore increases the rate of a reaction.  Materials : -0.5 g of catalase. -10 ml of Hydrogen Peroxide. -150 ml beaker. - Test tube. -Balance (g). -heater. -thermometer (Kps)  Procedure
