What is Digestive System?
Stages of digestion
Parts of Digestive System.
A problem of the Digestive System
The process of breaking down materials (food)
into chemicals that give nutrients for the body.
Stages of Digestion :
Mouth (Oral Cavity) : First part to begin
the process digestion by chewing the food.
Pharynx : Receive the food from the
mouth and carries the food to the stomach.
Stomach : breakdown the food.
Small Intestine : 22-feet muscular tube
contains enzymes to breakdown food.
Large Intestine : Responsible for processing
Anus : is the opening where the
gastrointestinal tract ends and exits the body.
“Constipation is a condition in
which a person has fewer than
three bowel movements a week
or has bowel movements with
stools that are hard, dry, and
small, making them painful or
difficult to pass.”
How common is it?
It is one of the common GL diseases in the USA
Affects 42 million or 15% of the population.
What causes it?
-Stool spends a lot of time in the colons.
-Diets low in fiber.
-Lack in Physical activity.
-Life routine changes.
How is Science applied?
The problem : How does the temperature of hydrogen peroxide
effect the gas pressure when combined with catalase enzyme?
Hypothesis : Higher pressure generally causes more collisions
among the molecules and therefore increases the rate of a reaction.
-0.5 g of catalase.
-10 ml of Hydrogen Peroxide.
-150 ml beaker.
- Test tube.
