  • 1. Top 15 Wordpress Plug-ins
    By Gary
  • 2. Why Use Plug-ins
Wordpress is a great blogging platform, It has many people working on it all the time to keep on improving it.
Its popularity could also be attributed to 3rd party developers building plug-ins to make wordpress do almost anything you want it to do!
There are many great plug-ins but here are my favorite 15
  • 3. All In One SEO
    All in One SEO
The all in one SEO plug-in ensures your blog is correctly optimised, It has automatic features such as filling out your title and description from the information in your post.
It can resolve duplicate content issues your blog may naturally create and much more.
  • 4. WP Database Backup
    WP DB Backup
So you have been blogging every day for 6 months and your blog is popular with 1000 comments, then your database server blows up and there isn't a backup.
This plug-in will save your bacon, backup to your server or have it e-mailed to you, once a day, once a week or once a month.
  • 5. Google XML Sitemaps
    Google XML Sitemaps
Google loves sitemaps and it loves XML. We all know to feed our webmaster tools account with an XML sitemap and we also know to keep it updated and dead link free.
This plug-in has a large array of options and is very configurable. Whenever you add or remove posts or pages, it will update your sitemap accordingly.
  • 6. SEO Smart Links
    SEO Smart Links
A good internal; linking structure can help give pages a push, You can set up this plug-in so when you use certain keywords in your blog posts then they automatically link to a given page.
It takes a little bit of time to set up but once it is; it saves a lot of time inserting links manually
  • 7. Feedburner
    Feedburner
Once your blog is up and running its good to see how many people are subscribing.
There are plenty of plug-ins that will do the same thing but the link above is recommended by Google.
  • 8. Rss Footer
    Rss Footer
Once you establish your blog it wont be a surprise to see its content on other websites. Most of the websites that do this will use your Rss feed to make it all automated.
Rss footer will add an extra section to your post which is only visible on your feed, use this to add a link back to your websites and make the most of people using your content.
  • 9. Simple 301 Redirect
    Simple 301 Redirect
Depending on how you use your blog you may find the need to redirect posts or pages. I use this to redirect posts to more updated versions that i write.
Its easy to use and it gives you statistics.
  • 10. Tweetmeme Button
    Tweetmeme Button
Social media and blogs work hand in hand, People are more likely to tweet a blog or a news article than a category page.
Tweetmeme makes it easy for people to tweet your blog posts and they also give you stats on who has been clicking.
