  1. 1. Introduction.  The starting and closing of the games.  Participants.  Sports.  Outstanding athletes.  Medals in the XIV Olympiad. 
  2. 2.    The 1948 Summer Olympics was celebrated in London and it was the first to be held after the Second World War This games were the first in be televised in all the world. This games were known as the Austerity Games due to the ravages of war, athletes had to sleep in bunkhouses .
  3. 3.  The games was inaugurated the 29th of July by the king Jorge VI and it finished the 14th of August.  500.000 people could see the opening ceremony in the Wembley stade and the TV.
  4. 4.  There were a total of 4014 participants from 59 nations.  65 spanish athletes took part in this Olympics.  London 1948 They only earned a silver medal in Equestrian jumping by teams. London 2012
  5. 5. Athletics, basketball or hockey were some of the sports.  The display sport was the Lacrosse. 
  6. 6.  The dutch housewife with two sons Fanny Blankers-Koen, toke part in four athletics events, she won four gold medals  The French Micheline Ostermeyer, a concert pianist, won the gold in shot put and discus throw.
  7. 7.  United States was the big winner in this Olympiad with 84 medals.  The host country was the 12th and Spain was the 28th.
