This 2014 listing of resources for STEM-related advocacy in Virginia will enable users to a) research the general laws and regulations governing Virginia's K-12 schools, b) find policy makers, c) understand Virginia's curriculum standards, d) know the regulations governing teacher preparation and licensure, e) quickly find key professional organizations, and f) secure workforce information.

  • 1. 1 Virginia STEM Resources: A 2014 Bibliography Prepared by Julia H. Cothron, Ed.D. Since here retirement, Dr. Julia Cothron has worked on a variety of STEM related issues in Virginia. In the process, she observed that potential advocates do not know key sources for obtaining background information on an issue. Below are resources that will enable you to:  Research the general laws and regulation governing Virginia’s K-12 schools;  Find policy makers;  Understand Virginia’s curriculum standards;  Know the regulations governing teacher preparation and licensure;  Quickly find key professional organizations; and  Secure workforce information.
