The number of green building incentives and requirements across all levels is rising dramati- cally. How will you show your competence and relevance to the rapidly growing green build- ing market?
The LEED Professional credential is perhaps the most widely recognized accreditation to demonstrate proficiency in green building and LEED. Recent improvements to the program create multiple tiers to acknowledge different experience levels and “specialties” that focus on specific project types.
The LEED Green Associate creates an accreditation option for individuals who indirectly sup- port green building and LEED projects (e.g. executives, managers, contractors, engineers etc.), but who do not directly apply green building practices and manage LEED certification. The intent of this accreditation is to provide third-party validation of general knowledge of green building practices and LEED and the ability to support green design, construction and opera- tions. The LEED Green Associate exam tests a candidate’s general knowledge of green build- ing practices and all the LEED rating systems, including Building Design & Construction, In- terior Design & Construction, Building Operation & Maintenance, Neighborhood Develop- ment, and Homes.
2. Course Overview Green Building and LEED Overview This provides an introduction to LEED and the LEED Green Associate credential process with a general over- view of green building practices and LEED for green design, construction and operations. You'll gain insight on the LEED credential process in an easy-to-understand method for a positive exam prep experience. Instruction will consist of a detailed overview of the accreditation process targeting the most relevant areas to sit for the ex- am with confidence.
The following sessions will review each of the primary credit categories. Understanding the intent and require- ments of each category will be easily understood by a detailed review of actual LEED certified projects in Co- lumbia South Carolina.
Integrative Process (IP); Sustainable Sites (SS); Location & Transportation (LT); Water Efficiency (WE) This focuses on the project’s site, taking care of the land to avoid an adverse construction impact during and fol- lowing project completion. Site location is critical and a review of considerations should be applied to site selec- tion, urban redevelopment and Brownfield development. When selecting a site, an evaluation should also be conducted to assess transportation alternatives, reduce site disturbance and maintain storm water management.
Energy and Atmosphere (EA) It is critical that energy and atmosphere requirements within your facility are operating as planned within design specifications. You’ll want to make sure your building is achieving minimum energy performance, and, if your building is new – eliminate CFC-based (Chlorinated Fluorocarbon) refrigerants in heating ventilation, air condi- tioning and refrigeration. Your instructor will guide you through the “Energy and Atmosphere” category, critical for the LEED accredited exam.
Materials and Resources (MR); Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ) and Innovation (IN), Regional Priority (RP) This addresses requirements relative to materials, indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and innovation. Partici- pants will gain a clear understanding of specific processes for achieving waste reduction and improved IEQ in all elements of a building.
Application of Principles Learned We will apply the principles learned with an interactive analysis of Clemson’s LEED certified Institute for Eco- nomic and Community Development facility located at 560 Civitas Circle in Northeast Columbia, SC.
Practice Exam and Tips on study methods and exam-taking skills Live, interactive exam questions simulated just like the real one.

December endorsement from a recent workshop graduate:
I focused all of my study time on the materials and references that you had outlined for us… Final results actually surprised me… scored 199 out of the max score of 200…. Bottom line…I am so thankful that I took your seminar and would recommend it to anyone who is planning to pursue the LEED Green Associate accreditation. Chuck H.
