  • STATEMENT +AUDIENCE
  •  Research into a potential target audience is key as it defines your film and specifies it for an ideal market. As my film is of the horror genre, it is required that I set the certificate at 18 as it contains scenes that may be deemed unsuitable for minors. My ideal target audience therefore will be young adults aged 18+. I believe this is the ideal target audience because it is a young age group who are quite social. It is also expected that this age group would partake in group activities such as going to the cinema with their friends.
  •  I will aim for my trailer to:  Create a dark, scary feel for all viewers as it is of the horror genre.  Use horror conventions such as dark lighting, make up, quick cuts, chop cuts, short clips, intertitling, range of shots.  Use a suitable location that represents the theme.  Use a range of camera angles and shots.  Use suitable sounds in the editing.  Create a suitable institution. I can also use Todorov’s theory of equilibrium as the equilibrium is disturbed by the rising of the dead, threatening humanities existence and the sole survivor. There will be a single main character, a protagonist of sorts, surviving against the zombies. I will use tension building fast cuts to speed up the action.
