    • INTRODUCTION To investigate the response of the society (teenagers) towards the mishap of their surroundings. In other words, it was an observation about the response that we got from different gender and the bystander effect on society
    • The experimental subject was the community of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. VARIABLES Independent variable : gender Dependent variable : respond of the student of different genders Extraneous variable : location of the experiment
    • Hypothesis : Females receive more help from the Taylor’s community than males. Based on the hypothesis ,we can conclude that it is a quantitative experiment .
    • METHOD
    • This experiment studied the respond of students while they saw someone ‘fainted’ on the floor, different genders of student may give different genders of the victim a different respond and result.
    • DESIGN Independent Variable: -The gender of the researcher who ‘fainted’ on the floor. Dependent Variable: -Was the respond of the student of different genders. Extraneous Variable: -The location of the researchers ‘fainted’.
    • PARTICIPANTS -A total 100 females and 121 males from Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus involved in this research.
    • This experiment is a tested experiment, participants should not know they are been experimented, after the experiment they will required to filled up a questionnaire form about the research.
    • MATERIALS -A consent form was used in this research. -a camera was also used for this experiment in order to record the whole process.
    • PROCEDURE To prepare for the experiment, a consent form was first created and the procedures for the experiment were formulated. On that day of experiment : • Tan Shing Yeou - in charge of the camera • Lee Jo Yee – record down the data, • Khor Seem Leng & Danish Asyik – debriefing the participants.
    • PROCEDURE • Low Jia Cheng and Liew QIao Li would be the ‘fainted’ researchers. -First, the camera was set up at an unobvious location to record down the process. - When everything was ready, the researcher would ‘faint’ on the floor.
    • PROCEDURE -The responds of the bystanders and helpers would be recorded at the same time. -A verbal debriefing was then relayed to the participants.
    • PROCEDURE -After that, the participants were required to fill up the consent form to give permission for being part of the video presentation. -The data were be collected and analysis. Then, researchers would carry out discussion and conclusion depended on the results.
    • PROCEDURE • Data collected and analysis made, discussion and conclusion are made.
    • VIDEO TIME
    • DATA ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION
    • LOW JIA CHENG LIEW QIAO LI
    • HYPOTHESIS Females receive more help than males MANIPULATED VARIABLE Gender of coordinator RESPONDING VARIABLE Help received CONSTANT VARIABLE Condition of the coordinator
    • MALE COORDINATOR Number of people that did not help HELP ON MALE BY MALE Male : 61 Female : 53 HELP ON MALE BY FEMALE HELP ON MALE Coordinator : Low Jia Cheng PEOPLE INVOLVED *TESTS CONDUCTED ON TAYLORS UNIVERSITY LAKESIDE CAMPUS COMMUNITY ONLY*
    • FEMALE COORDINATOR Number of people that did not help HELP ON FEMALE BY MALE Male : 44 Female : 27 HELP ON FEMALE BY FEMALE HELP ON FEMALE Coordinator PEOPLE INVOLVED : Liew Qiao Li *TESTS CONDUCTED ON TAYLORS UNIVERSITY LAKESIDE CAMPUS COMMUNITY ONLY*
    • 160 • 16% show emphatic value towards Male • 17% show emphatic value towards Female 140 120 100 • Total of 221 individuals involved(excluding coordinators) . 80 60 40 20 0 Male Female Helped 21 15 Not Helped 114 71
    • RECEIVED HELP MALE FEMALE MALE 12% 20% FEMALE 18% 26% INFERENCE • Females offered more help • Females have more emphaty than male • Males are perceived (assumed) as stronger • Male received less help than female from both females and males
    • In this experiment…. By- Standers Effects “ The phenomenon in which the greater the number of people present, the less likely people are to help a person in distres ”
    • Famous Example •Bibb Latane and John Darley •the amount of time it takes the participant to take action and seek help varies depending on how many other observers are in the room 75% 38% 10%
    • In this experiment, we have observed more than one case of by-stander effect
    • What do they do? Why do they do this? Why is this happening? DIFFUSSION OF RESPONSIBILI TY NEED TO BEHAVE IN SOCIALLY ACCEPTED WAYS
    • 3.5 3 Axis Title 2.5 2 1.5 1 0.5 0 0:30 1:00 1:30 2:00 2:30 3:00 3:30 4:00 4:30 Female being saved FASTER than male. Female = Weaker Sex
    • CONCLUSION
    • TIME not a variable in this experiment. Non-constant flow of traffic
    • Hypothesis is ACCEPTED. Females receive more help from the Taylor’s community than males. 17 % 16 %
    • I'd much rather be a woman than a man. Women can cry, they can wear cute clothes, and they're the first to be rescued off sinking ships. -Gilda Radner Female = Weak
    • Female emotional life is generally richer than a man’s, and so her need for tenderness is greater. Female = More Empathic
    • THE END THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE
