Questionnaire results

  1. 1. Questionnaire results By Josh Davey I have gained feedback on my production tasks through the form of a questionnaire sent to 10 members of the target audience. Here is a summary of the results.
  2. 2. 1. After watching my finished film trailer, does it meet the conventions of the Psychological thriller genre correctly? From the answers to this question I have found that my film trailer does meet the conventions of the psychological thriller genre as everyone who answered this question stated yes it does meet the conventions of the psychological thriller genre. Question 1 15 10 5 0 Yes No
  3. 3. 2. Do I represent the protagonists and antagonists correctly throughout the trailer, and is it obvious which is which? From this question I have found out that the protagonists and antagonists are represented conventionally. Being the protagonists as scared and weak, and the antagonists as strong and dominant. Question 2 15 10 5 0 Yes No
  4. 4. 3. Does my film poster look professional? From this question I have found out that my film poster looks professional and like an actual film poster for a movie from this genre, as the 10/10 people answered yes. Question 3 15 10 5 0 Yes No
  5. 5. 4. Does my magazine cover look professional? From this question I have found out that my magazine cover looks conventional to the majority, but a few people disagree and think it doesn’t look entirely conventional. But as the majority say it does, I think it is a success. Question 4 10 8 6 4 2 0 Yes No
  6. 6. 5. Do I correctly use colours, fonts, layout and images in my film poster? From this question I have found out that the majority of people think that I’ve used colours, fonts, layout and images correctly within my film poster, as 9/10 people answered yes and only 1 person thought I didn’t completely meet these correctly. Question 5 10 8 6 4 2 0 Yes No
  7. 7. 6. Do I correctly use colours, fonts, layout and images in my magazine cover? From this question I have found out that my magazine cover is not as appealing as my film poster as more people stated I didn’t correctly use colours, fonts, layout and images, even though the majority said I did. So overall it was appealing but not as much as intended. Question 6 8 6 4 2 0 Yes No
  8. 8. 7. Please leave an overall comment on my finished film trailer. From this question I have gained detailed feedback on my finished film trailer, in which is summarised below with bullet points of key points mentioned, both positive and negative: Positives: ▫ ▫ ▫ ▫ ▫ It conveys a correct conventional representation of the protagonists and antagonists. It utilises the technical areas (Camerawork, editing, sound, mise-en-scene) conventionally and correctly. It displays conventional themes of the genre, being tension, mystery and action. It leaves the plot on a cliff-hanger, making the audience want to watch the full film, matching conventions of the form. It’s eye catching and interesting. Negatives: ▫ ▫ Some of the locations could be better to meet conventions more. Not enough action included. To sum up, my film trailer was a success as there were limited negative points and the majority of positive points linked to it being conventional and appealing to the target audience.
  9. 9. 8. Please leave an overall comment on my finished film poster. From this question I have gained detailed feedback on my finished film poster, in which is summarised below with bullet points of key points mentioned, both positive and negative: Positives: ▫ ▫ ▫ ▫ ▫ Correct use of fonts and colours Conventional layout that uses the route of the eye and hot spots Conventional image that shows the fear of the protagonist and dominance of the antagonist (Conventional representations) It looks like an actual film poster It’s eye catching and relates to the genre Negatives: ▫ The setting isn’t entirely conventional of the genre, although it’s conventional of the plot as it’s an everyday location. ▫ You cannot see the protagonist’s fear other than in his posture. To sum up, my film poster is conventional and appealing to the target audience as it clearly represents the characters conventionally and it relates to the genre, as well as looking eye catching.
  10. 10. 9. Please leave an overall comment on my finished magazine front cover. From this question I have gained detailed feedback on my finished magazine cover, in which is summarised below with bullet points of key points mentioned, both positive and negative: Positives: ▫ ▫ ▫ ▫ ▫ The colours and fonts used are conventional as they relate to the genre and connote mystery and danger. The layout is conventional of the genre. It looks like an actual magazine front cover. The image represents the antagonist as strong and dominant, and also strikes fear across the reader. It uses conventional elements of magazine covers (eg. masthead, cover lines etc.) Negatives: ▫ Even though the image is conventional, it’s very bland and boring, which ruins the magazine cover as it makes it less eye catching and interesting.
