  • Timing is everything, we feel very fortunate to have launched in 2005 and built up our experience and expertise in a benign period in the market. Here is a snapshot of the growth since FY 2007 – our fiscal year end is June 30 – so 2 ¾ years The program ceiling under which our commitments revolve has increased 500% from $500 million to the current $3 billion. The bank coverage has doubled the number of countries present has doubled – 150 banks across 74 markets as of today In terms of volume – the number of guarantees issues and the dollar volume of those guarantees have also doubled with a continuing upward trend. + NO CLAIMS In 9 months of the current fiscal year, we have surpassed the previous 12 month figures. South South Trade: 36% of gtees issued (cumulative) CB Risk Share: 26.6% (cumulative) 75% of the guarantees issued are for amounts under $1 million and the median amount is: $200k Utilization: (60%) CBs. (78%) IBs
  • We have long tried to see if we have any patterns of usage – seasonality, manufacturing cycles etc. The red line gives an interesting diagnostic of what happened in our program as the crisis unfolded – the yellow circle if you can see it, bringing focus on the critical period of September ’08 - January ’09. Sept set a new high for us at [$250 million] when counterparty risk became an issue but business and credit lines were still relatively steady, then October sharply dipped when LIBOR rate setting became dysfunctional, pricing risk was hugely challenging and interbank flows halted. November rebounded somewhat but thereafter bankers closed the books pretty much for the year began to see demand in February that has continued thru March ($200 m)
  • Just to give you a quick view on the underlying instruments we have supported with our guarantees: Over half of LC volume has been for Africa Majority of Pre-export and Post-import financing has been extended to clients in LAC, Europe and MENA Funding is provided by banks in the program (the Confirming Bank network) that have liquidity and interest in funding FIs in the emerging markets under IFC guarantees. These are short-term, trade related loans whose underlying instruments are PNs of SBLCs ___________________________________________________________ $2.7 b. LCs ; PEF: 1.12 billion; PIF: 170 million; ADV: 32 million BID: 9 million; BE: 5 million; PERF: 4.8 million Total: 4 billion (FY06-FY09)
  • Here is a list of the most active export countries and import destinations witnessed under our GTFP this fiscal year.
  • Seker Bank/HVB, railway undercarriages to Switzerland MDM Bank/JPM Chase, turbines and specialized steel equipment to France, Finland, China, India
