• 1. Question 7 Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
 • 2.

Just thinking about the preliminary task I did back in November 2010, I can clearly see how I changed from what I had learnt over the past few months in able to carry out my finished product

 • 3. Preliminary Task

My preliminary task involved two boys in a school talking about school work.

They start talking about a girl behind her back, thinking they are smart and funny.

However, their plans backfire and she outwits them to make them look like idiots.

 • 4. What’s good about my preliminary task?

Attracts a young audience

Has a sense of humour in it

Keeps the viewer interested throughout

Able to show understanding the 180 degrees rule

Able to shoot with white balance enabled

 • 5. What’s bad about my preliminary task?

Lack of creativity within storyline

Extremely short

Various lighting problems when editing

Some continuity errors

 • 6. What do I think about the task?

I think the preliminary task went well, however it was not perfect and how I wanted it to be. I think the main reason for this is that I lacked confidence throughout the shoot.

 • 7. Why did I lack confidence in my preliminary task?

This was the first time I had used a camera like the one I was using before.

I wasn’t entirely clear with the actors of what I wanted them to do. This resulted in some continuity errors.

I felt awkward about being in total control of everything that was happening.

 • 8. After my preliminary task

I knew that if I wanted to make a good final product, I would need to change how I was in my preliminary task.

I would need to gain confidence with the equipment, but also of the actual situation.

 • 9. Between projects

In between my preliminary and main task I made sure that I would gain a greater knowledge about how films are made, and how the equipment works.

I also made sure that I knew how to edit my film main task through learning and experimenting from editing my preliminary task.

 • 10. However…

Between projects I also gained a greater knowledge of media specific terminology, different genres of film, and my textual analysis of films improved greatly.

I was able to gain this knowledge through my lessons and by watching different films.

 • 11. How did this help me?

This helped me as my overall knowledge of films improved and I was able to reflect back on my preliminary task and see how I could improve it

 • 12. To conclude

Looking back at my preliminary task I can see that I totally lacked confidence and knowledge of how to use the equipment and take control of the situation

 • 13. However…

By carrying out research, and improving my overall knowledge of the subject, I was able to gain the confidence needed to make my full product how I wanted it to be!

 • 14.

The End
