3. Recording
You can use Audacity® to record live audio through a
microphone or mixer. You can also download recordings from
tapes, records, minidisks, or streaming audio.
Audacity® offers the following recording features:
A toolbar that manages multiple input and output devices
Level meters that monitor volume levels before, during,
and after recording
Record from a microphone
Dub over existing tracks to create multi-track recordings
Has time-record and sound-activated recording features
4. Audacity® Pros and Cons
Pros
It is easy to use and is good for basic audio editing
Has a large number of audio effects and other advanced
features
Can export to several different audio file types by default
Free plug-ins increase functionality
Cons
Full support for some common file types (like mp3)
requires installing a plug-in
Most advanced features require audio editing experience to
use effectively
