    • How many of you are hungry right now?
    • Now imagine having to feel that way all of the time.
  • 3. Hunger Facts
    • As a result of hunger, six million children under the age of 5 die every year.
    • 13.0 million of U.S. households were food insecure at some time during 2007.
    • 104 million of U.S. households were food secure throughout 2007.
  • 4. Facts
    • Food secure—These households had access, at all times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members.
    • In 2007, 36.2 million people lived in food-insecure households, including 12.4 million children.
    • Of these individuals, 8.2 million adults and 3.7 million children lived in households with very low food security.
  • 5. Facts
    • 433 million people across the word are hungry.
    • 16,000 children die every day from hunger related issues, 1 every 5 seconds.
    • In 2005, 1.4 billion people lived below the international poverty line (less than $1.25 a day).
    • 820 million people in the developing world are undernourished.
  • 6. Facts
    • In 2006 there were 9.7 million.
    • 9 million people die worldwide each year due to mal-nutrition.
    • 5 million of these people are children.
    • There are one billion people that don’t even earn $1.00 a day.
  • 7. Statistics
    • Direct cost of hunger is estimated at 30 billion a year.
    • 15 million children die each year from hunger.
    • For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years.
    • Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.
    • Hunger is the most extreme form of poverty.
