Personal Review: Cowon S9 32 GB Video MP3 Player with
Touchscreen (Titanium Black)
This mp3 player is as close to perfect as it comes. With support for flac,
ogg, and ape you can get unbelievable bit rates and sound quality. The jet
effect equalizer is outstanding but custom eqs do have a learning curve.
There are enough preset eqs to satisfy most listeners. Fully customizable
menus are a great plus for this player. It is based entirely in flash so if you
get bored with the menus or music player(or if you plain dont like it) you
can download new ones from other users or make your own if you happen
to know how to use flash. The screen is beautiful to say the least. It blows
lcd screens out of the water. The touch screen is extremely responsive.
Much better than an ipod touch in my opinion. The video player is great.
Although I don't watch many videos on my s9 I was very impressed with its
visual clarity and near instant seek function. Many flash games are
available and work extremely well as compared to the archos 605 i
previously owned. There are not nearly as many apps as apple has

compiled but the essentials are there such as clocks, calendars, and so
forth. The claim of 55 hour battery life is not far from the truth. I would
wager for the average user it would last between 40 and 50 hours which is
outstanding for only needing a less than 4 hour charge. It fits well in my
hand and feels sturdy despite plastic construction. The screen is glass so
not too much to worry about as far as scratches go. The radio is just
average but for me its not a deal breaker. There are very few things I don't
like about this player. First(and this is most likely only temporary as the
firmware updates) there is no gapless playback for mp3 files. This can be
very annoying when trying to listen to Lateralus straight through. Flac, ogg
and ape all have gapless playback with the newest firmware. Second the
20 pin connector is rather strange but since this player is extremely
popular in Korea its understandable. Just make sure to at least buy an
extra one(if not two).
Anyways, this is a simply amazing mp3 player that will give you great file
support, awesome customization options, killer sound quality, and
elegance to match.
