2. Fixing Joints
• The Joints that I would use to make the frame
of the rock would be Fixing joints for this I will
need to Drill a pilot hole to avoid the wood
splitting, I will then use a countersink bit to
open the top of the hole so the screw head is
flush with the surface of the wood.
3. • I will then, using the right size driver, screw
the pieces into place. I will also use wood glue
on the joining faces to increase the strength of
the joint. To screw the pieces together I will
need a power drill with a screw driver piece.
• . I will then cover the frame with chicken to
create the basic shape of the rock.
5. Butt Joints
• When creating extra stage parts to make the
rugged edges around the rostra, we needed to
use butt joints to make it simple yet effective.
This way it was held together by joints that were
strong enough to hold the weight of the actors. If
we needed something to make it stronger again
we would have used the strengtheners which are
pieces of wood which are glued to the inside
corner of the joint. To create the top of the stage
we used a piece of wood that was drilled into
place.
