  • 1. Professional development - using Elluminate / Blackboard Collaborate Application Share for demonstrations and interaction.<br />The virtual room interface is changing with BbCollaborate11. Some functions are accessed differently. However content & “how to” processes are essentially the same. <br />

  • 10. For App Share you don’t need to be a moderator!<br />I usually use “Host Apps” because this lets me share just a region.<br /><ul><li>More flexible for my student context
  • 11. I don’t risk accidentally sharing email or other private info
  • 12. Less bandwidth heavy than other options</li></ul>This enables more efficient management of the share by Elluminate<br />
  • 13. This shares your entire screen & anything on it eg Elluminate, open email etc<br />This shares a specific application. Open the App & preferably any files you want to share BEFORE you start the share.<br />
  • 14. Sharing a region<br />Use for demos<br />Shares selected area<br />Less resource heavy than full desktop share<br />All data goes to host servers & back so takes time to appear on all screens <br />Need accurate sizing<br />Can be accidentally covered<br />

Some App Share activities with students.<br />Go through work with student<br />Demo their CE8 course<br />Demo an App eg Word<br />Collaborate on a task<br />Students share their own apps to demo<br />Coaching student through an activity<br />Show them “how” using their desktop <br />Solve an Ellum problem for them<br />Demo then give student control to perform task<br />Assess student use of an App eg Word<br />

  • 19. You can give control of your share to a student <br />You can ask for control of a student’s share, or of their whole desktop – they must approve these!<br />
  • 20. To give and take control & work in shared apps<br />Click on the participant name to highlight<br />Choose the option you want<br />Follow the dialogue boxes to agree<br />The App Share border will be pink to show control<br />If someone is controlling your share DON’T touch the mouse<br />To regain control use “Ctrl” Space<br />

Compare with Web Tour which: <br />Takes audience to a particular website<br />Uses participant’s own browser<br />Allows people to explore at their own pace within a site <br />Tick “TourGuide” to guide through a site &/or to bring all back to same page as you<br />Can’t be used on password protected sites<br />
