    1. Tectonic event / location: Map of the affected area © 2009 Okehampton College Key information and statistics (deaths, magnitude, injured etc) Socio-economic profile (use the CIA World Factbook to find any indicators that might relate to their ability to manage the hazard) Level of development (developing, developed) Associated hazards (e.g. landslides, tsunami)
    2. Diagram of the cause of the event (include place specific detail e.g. name of the plates) Explanation of the cause
    3. For Volcanoes, what was the impact of intrusive / extrusive igneous activity? For earthquakes, what was the impact on the landscape?
    4. Why do people live in this area? How does it relate to levels of development? Summarise the impacts of the event. Use PEPSE! (Physical, Economic, Political, Social, Environmental)
    5. Summarise the impacts of the event. (continued) How did the impacts vary over time? E.g. short term and long term impacts. Make reference to theory where possible.
    6. What are the different ways people have attempted to cope...? Before the event During the event After the event
    7. Sources / References (e.g. textbooks, journals, documentary, internet) Analyse the response to the event, with reference to the disaster management cycle
    8. It is important to show that you can analyse your case studies in relation to theory and models relating to hazard response and management. Here are two models that you could refer to in your essays...
