Ability to install, remove, and repair molded insulation which includes fiberglass, calcium silicate, polymide foam, and elastomeric ( rubatex, armaflex) from pipes, bulkheads, components, and ventilation systems throughout various types of ships.
Three years experience or more as a marine insulator applying stud mounted insulation on shell, decks, platforms, joiner bulkheads, and overheads.
Shipfitters require skills, tack welding, burning, torch heating, ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines, comprehend fractional dimensions with use of ruler, tape measure.
Ability to assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.
