  • 1. DEFINITION An audio-visual aids is an instructional device in which message can be heard as well as seen. Audio-visual aids are those aids which help in completing the triangular process of learning.ie, Motivation, classification, stimulation. Carter .v. CONCEPTS OF A-V AIDS Audio-visual aids are sensitive tools used in teaching and as avenues for learning.these are planned educational materials that appeal to the senses of the people and quickens learning facilities for clear understanding. PURPOSES OF A-V AIDS  Improve and make teaching effective.  Enable the audience to look, listen and learn.  Make learning interesing and profitable.  Quicken the phase of learning.  Economise teachers effort.  Foster/develop the knowledge.  It helps in newness in lesson and provide vicarious experience.  Brings expected behavioral changes among the learners.
  • 5.  Stimulate curiosity.  The students acquires clear,accurate and vivid image during the process of learning.  Increase and sustain attention and concentration.  Provide an opportunity for situational type of learning. eg:Field trips.  Stimulate thinking and motivate action.  Saves time and energy.  Changes attitude or view of learners.  Develop continuity or thought.
  • 6.  Increases the concreteness ,clarity,effectiveness of ideas and skills being tranferred.  Economise teacher effort.  Helps in learning process.  Helps to improve the students skills.  To gain practical skills.  Helps to develop knowledge.  helps to develop vocabulary development.  Facilitates freedom among learners.  They direct dramatise the experiences.
