Jewellery Verticals Students Submissions

 1. 2. Introduction

I think that one of my favorite crafts is jewelry making. Beads should be part of any well-equipped jewelry making kit. I love the choice of styles that jewelry making allows you to try. The range of materials that you can use for jewelry making also means that their possible uses are limited only by my imagination.

 2. 3. Indian History of jewelry

India's glorious history has affected each and every aspect of Indian lifestyle. Jewelry has remained an integral part of the Indian lifestyle. Thus, the diverse history of Indian has influence the jewelry styles as well. You will be surprised to know that the history of Indian jewelry goes back to almost 5000 years. Since pre-historic times, people in India have had a penchant for adorning themselves with jewellery. Gold, silver, stones, gems, etc

The 1930' to the 1950's, Depression years followed by war years, brought about some of the wittiest and most absurd jewelry of the 20th century, and some of the most fun to wear. Wood jewelry was either assembled, as the wood beads mixed with plastic, glass and other materials, or carved and painted, as the figures shown below. Fashioned by both jewelry companies and home crafters, the designs seem endless and the creativity amazing.

 8. 11. Platinum

Since being introduced into jewelry by Cartier in the 1890s, platinum, and platinum engagement rings have become a 'must have' for many women. So if you are planning on proposing to the woman you love, then you might consider platinum for her engagement rings rather than the more traditional gold or silver.

 9. 13. Diamond

Giving a diamond was traditional because it represented something that was beautiful, and could not be broken. Hence when two people were in love and wanted to show this to everyone, the man would give the woman a diamond ring.
