1. Student Magazine Research
I collated data from 10 different students in my college
asking them questions on
their opinions on what a
college magazine should
look like and the content
it should have within the
magazine. My target
audience for my college
magazine will be 17-19 years old as this is the age of the
majority of students that attend my college.
I have learnt that from my secondary and primary
data that most
students prefer
bold colours on
the FC of a
magazine.
Surprisingly I
discovered that 50% of the students would read the
magazine. The qualitative data really helped me decide on
the content of the magazine. Most wrote down
that they would expect to see events and news
about the college. One that stood out the most
for me was discounts. I thought that this was a
good idea, because personally, as a student I
would want discounts. Another thing that most
wrote down was tips on how to revise and earn
money. This would be very relevant to a
student’s lifestyle.
The majority of students are interested in music and fashion.
This could converge nicely with college news as many
students are aspiring musicians. Therefore articles could be
written about how they are doing within the industry.
I have decided to call my magazine the ‘Student Guide’ as this
is the most popular name. The price ranged from free to
£4.99, so I have decided to go around the mid range and price
it at £2.50.
