2. 2. Why Use Educational Applications To Teach Basic ABC’s?
FREE!!
Can be used in any Pre-K or K classroom.
Easily help a child learn the basic skills that are necessary building blocks of education
They all have great features and positive attributes but there is only one I would choose . . . .
3. 3. Alphabet Zoo Application Features
4. 4. ABC Alphabet Phonics Application Features
5. 5. ABC’s and Me Application Features
6. 6. Alphabet Zoo
Good enunciation of letter
Large clear letters
Great repetition
Aligned with U.S. reading standards
Easy to use
No lower case letters
Vowels are not sounded out both ways
Doesn’t use the letter in a sentence
Some animal/letter combinations might confuse students
Pros
Cons
7. 7. ABC Alphabet Phonics
Large clear letters
Great picture/letter association
Allows for shuffling of letters
Allows students to pick favorites
Child friendly illustrations
Mixing of upper & lower case letters
Does not sound out any letters
Pros
Cons
8. 8. ABC’s and Me
Large clear letters
Allows for shuffling of letters
Allows teacher to mark a star once the student recognizes the letter
No lower case letters
Vowels are not sounded out both ways
Pictures & layout of letters is boring, looks very old school, & would not hold students attention
Pros
Cons
9. 9. My Recommendation Is . . . .
Alphabet Zoo!
Based on personal teaching experience of Pre-K or K, and from my comparison of the 3 tools discussed, I would definitely choose Alphabet Zoo to help my students learn the letters of the alphabet and their sounds.
This game was fun and interactive, and it will allow for easy use for all level of students.
One of the best parts is that it is FREE, and can be downloaded to multiple devices without licensing fees or technical requirements.
Lastly, one of the greatest selling points is that this game is aligned with the U.S. standards for phonics and word recognition.
