Testosterone is the primary androgenic hormone
which is responsible for normal growth and
development of male sex organs and maintenance
of secondary sex characteristics
3. What Causes Testosterone Deficiency?
When the testes fail to produce normal levels of testosterone
(Male: 300 -1,000 ng/dL) hypogonadism results.
Primary Hypogonadism
Secondary Hypogonadism
Due to testicular failure i.e. when
testosterone levels are low and pituitary
gonadotropins are elevated
When there is inadequate secretion of
pituitary gonadotropins, LH and FSH, to
stimulate testosterone production in the
testes.

A medical history, physical exam, and the proper
laboratory evaluation are necessary with regards to –
Abnormalities at birth
Current status of sexual
function
Sexual characteristics, such as beard growth,
muscular strength, and energy level
5. Know Essential Laboratory Diagnosis
FSH, LH, SHBG, Total and Free Testosterone, DHEA and
Estradiol
The following tests should be done in the morning.

7. Types of Testosterone Replacement
Therapy
1. Intramuscular injection - an intramuscular
injection of 200 to 300 mg testosterone
enanthate is generally sufficient to produce
serum testosterone levels
2. Oral agents - may cause elevations in liver
function tests and abnormalities at liver scan and
biopsy. Due to it's potential for hepatotoxicity,
these formulations are not recommended for
clinical use.
8. 3. Transdermal Vehicle - a daily dosage ranging from 10mg to
200mg per ml in the early morning hours is efficient to provide
adequate testosterone level
NOTE:
It is recommended that you
administer testosterone twice a
day - Once upon waking (5am to
7am) and again in the mid day (1
to 4pm).

10. Monitor Your Testosterone Level
Is there any changes in the clinical symptoms and signs
of testosterone deficiency such as acne and increase in
breast size and tenderness?
Check your serum testosterone levels between 5 to
7 hours after application of a transdermal delivery
systems
11. Always speak to your prescribing physician before initiating
treatment and check your Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
