My suggestion is to upload your blog to your own host and give it a domain name representing your company or profile.

It only costs a little more per month, but it’ll give your blog a more professional image; hence, building your reputation.

Once you sign up for a free account with Google Adsense, you can start displaying ads on your site within minutes.

You don't need to have a super popular site with millions of viewers in order for Google to do business with you, like what some people might think.

Anybody with a website or blog can sign up for a free Google Adsense account.

They give you the HTML code for you to copy and paste in your website, so that ads related to your content will automatically show up on your site/blog wherever you want them to be displayed.

As far as monetizing your site with Google adsense, it doesn't matter whether you are using a free blog or a paid one (with domain name and hosting). As long as you can drive traffic to the site, you are in good shape.

That is the name of the game by the way - driving web traffic to your site/blog.

Once you have a website or blog up in the niche that you want to market to, and have added some useful content to it, you can then place some Google Adsense ads on your site and earn a decent income by driving traffic to it.

You may use Pay-Per-Click Advertising for your own sites, online classified ad sites, article marketing, press releases, video marketing, social network marketing, and other methods to generate traffic.

By the way, search engines love blogs; so as long as you post beneficial and keyword-optimized content on your blog, the search engines will find it.
