There are two upcoming transportation projects that the GTA is embarking upon:
Georgetown South Service Expansion (GSSE)
Union-Pearson Rail Link (UPRL or the Blue 22)

The Route…

THE PROBLEM
These routes will have
400DIESEL trains
run throughout the GTA
EVERY DAY

The Government of Ontario needs to ELECTRIFY the BLUE 22 and the GSSE now!
Build it once, and build it RIGHT!

WE ARE THE CLEAN TRAIN STUDENT COALITON
….and we want CLEAN TRAINS NOW!

Environmental Impacts of Diesel
Diesel fumes contain Nitrous Oxide (NOx)
NOx contributes to acid rain, smog, and the deterioration of water quality
NOx is also a greenhouse gas

Health Effects of Diesel
The Canadian Medical Association and Toronto Public Health have reported that diesel is dangerous to public health.
Diesel fumes have been linked to cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, cancers and premature death.
Diesel is known to be especially dangerous to children and senior citizens

Don’t Let Toronto become the next Los Angeles….
