  6. 6. Quick impressions<br />You don’t have long to impress the reader<br />Make it easy for them<br />Make it pleasant to look at<br />If you meet their criteria make that very clear to them.<br />

  9. 9. Tell them what you did!<br />They don’t care what you were SUPPOSED to be doing, they want to know what you DID!<br />Highlight achievements not duties<br />Back them up with genuine statements of achievement.<br />

Tell them the story….<br />You’ll impress them if you concisely paint a word picture, what was going on, what you were doing about it, what the outcome was.<br />What was the scope of the role? <br />What were the challenges? <br />Did I make anything bigger, better, cheaper?<br />What did you achieve?<br />What were you known for?<br />
  11. 11. My career goes back a long time…<br />Is it relevant?<br />How old do you want them to think you are?<br />No-one really cares where you went to school once you have done lots of other interesting things.<br />
