Retirement does not mean giving up on work and life. Post-retirement can be the most satisfying of a person's working life. The earlier you start considering the options you have for a fulfilling and purposeful life after your traditional work role, the more you will be prepared to make wise and exciting choices.

  5. 5. Discontent<br />Niggling feelings<br />Disappointment <br />“Is this all there is?”<br />Resignation – <br />“Putting up with the work, the people, the company.”<br />Incongruence <br />“It’s just not who I am”<br />Diminishing <br />“They treat me like dirt”<br />
  6. 6. Time for a change<br />Moving away from something<br />Unhappy<br />Feeling overwhelmed<br />Feeling bullied or otherwise uncomfortable<br />Moving towards something<br />Great idea<br />Money making venture<br />Seeking fulfillment<br />

  9. 9. Reality check<br />Will anyone employ me over 50? <br />What sort of work can I do?<br />Am I employable?<br />What skills do I have that I can transfer to another work environment? <br />The Global Financial Crisis and its impact on employment in Australia.<br />

Know what you really want<br />Out of the frying pan into the fire……………..Ouch!<br />New stage of life - What does that mean in terms of the work you are seeking? <br />Clarify what you are seeking<br />Professional help<br />Qualified in Career Development<br />Counselling, coaching, practical help.<br />
  11. 11. Self marketing<br />Transferable skills = Self belief<br />What can you really offer them? Be honest with yourself because then you can be honest with them.<br />Strong powerful resume that makes you stand out. <br />What you have achieved<br />Action or achievement oriented<br />Professional looking<br />
  12. 12. Your network<br />Age has advantages. You know lots of people.<br />

Looking towards retirement<br />At what age do you want to retire?<br />What do you want to have achieved by then?<br />What does retirement mean to you? <br />Baby Boomers have always done things differently!<br />Previous generations – Stop work, Travel, What next?<br />Want retirement to provide fulfillment, satisfaction, the chance to “do your own thing”……but what is that? <br />Plan NOW for a fulfilling retirement. Start working towards it. Make it a seamless transition. <br />Need to have Passion, a Purpose and a Plan.<br />
