  1. 1. REFWORKSREFWORKS Presented and compiled by Jen Eidelman http://www.lib.uct.ac.za Email: jen.eidelman@uct.ac.za
  2. 2. Searching theSearching the RefWorks DatabaseRefWorks Database Once you have imported your references into the RefWorks database you need a way to locate them so you can organize and use them in your bibliography. Searching RefWorks is the easiest and fastest way to do that.
  3. 3. Searching the RefWorks DatabaseSearching the RefWorks Database Simply type in your word (or words) in the “Search” box. For example search for ‘global warming’. Some things to know about searches: They are not case sensitive, so if you like to type in all CAPS - go ahead. “Quick Search” will search for “embedded terms”, so if you search for “art”, you’ll get results with “heart”, “part” and “smart”, etc. If you enter more than one word RefWorks searches for them using “OR” between the words. So if you search for “global warming” your search will actually be global OR warming.
  4. 4. Searching the RefWorks DatabaseSearching the RefWorks Database RefWorks highlights your search words so you can easily see why this reference was retrieved. Search results are displayed by relevancy, so the closest matches will appear at the top of the list.
