Digital & Social Media Tools For Nonprofits

In its most basic meaning, tools are things used to accomplish some sort of task. Unfortunately in the digital world that we live in, there are often just as many tools as there are tasks, and breaking through this clutter is, well a task itself. In an effort to help do so, I have highlighted 30 tools grouped by the categories below that I feel would be of value to nonproﬁts of all sizes. Some may require more effort than others, though all are relatively inexpensive (if not free). MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA YouTube Channels are web pages where you can house your account's videos and that can be custom designed to feature comments, subscribers, donation options, and other social YouTube Channels networking features Potential uses: Viral marketing campaigns, video testimonials, supporter/volunteer generated video content and interviews Facebook Pages are essentially proﬁle pages for organizations of all sorts where "fans" can post pictures and videos, participate in discussion and subscribe to news updates Facebook Pages Potential uses: Awareness campaigns and real time feedback from supporters MeetUp is a free online service designed to help people with similar interests plan meetings and form ofﬂine clubs in local communities MeetUp Potential uses: Focus groups, grass roots marketing campaigns jeffrey.ader@gmail.com
