BlackBerry’s backup creative directors

BlackBerry made a splash with CEO Thorsten Heins unveiled songstress Alicia Keys as the company’s new creative director last month at the launch of its new BlackBerry 10 OS. Keys is a fine choice, but in case her break-up with her iPhone doesn’t hold, we’ve helped Heins by compiling a short-list of possible replacements.

  2. 2. Gloria GaynorA woman who never goes downwithout a fight, with GloriaGaynor as creative director, wecan rest assured that BlackBerryWill Survive. After all, BlackBerry is a companythat Never Can Say Goodbye. Not everyone likes itssmartphones, but as Gloria wouldtell them, I Am What I Am.
  3. 3. Aretha FranklinIf there’s one thing that can be saidof BlackBerry on recent years, it’sthat A Little Respect would be nice. It’s a feeling Aretha Franklin couldecho as BlackBerry’s creativedirector. For BlackBerry diehards, she’dsupport Giving Him Something HeCan Feel (like a hard qwertykeyboard), so they wouldn’t have toturn to a Chain of Fools, like Android.
  4. 4. Bill MedleyAlong with the late BobbyHatfield, Medley was part of pop duoThe Righteouus Brothers. What better creative director to findout why so many former BlackBerryusers around the world have Lost ThatLoving Feeling? After all, if they couldonly love BlackBerry like they used todo, all would be well once again. If they don’t come backthough, BlackBerry can always just GoAhead and Cry.
  5. 5. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend With the two The Who frontmen serving as BlackBerry’s creative directors, the vendor could be sure smartphone buyers Won’t Get Fooled Again by the likes of Apple and Android. And people using the new BlackBerry Z10 are already saying You Better You Bet. Plus, as much as I enjoy BrickBreaker, it’s time for a new BlackBerry signature game: Pinball Wizard.
  6. 6. Public EnemyIf BlackBerry wanted to go in amore confrontationaldirection, hiring hip hop groupPublic Enemy as their creativedirectors would be a bold move, butalso a seamless fit. After all, Don’t Believe The Hypehas been a message BlackBerry hasbeen sending to would-be defectorsfor years.Although perhaps after years ofFight(ing) The Power, BlackBerry isready for a new path.
