SetFocus, LLC Parsippany, NJ 1/09 -4/09
• Developed solutions for diverse programming scenarios in C#, employing
object–oriented programming concepts including: encapsulation, inheritance,
polymorphism, and abstraction.
• Used C# and ADO.NET to define and implement secure middle-tier
components using both connected and disconnected environment strategies.
Components were consumed by web applications and windows applications
utilizing SQL Server and stored procedures to perform logical business
transactions.
• Created and deployed XML Web Services using ASP.NET and Web Services
Enhancements (WSE). Consumed Web Services from both Windows forms
and ASP.NET web applications.
• Created complex business components in C# using .NET Class Library
assemblies while migrating and implementing them in a multi-tier
environment suitable for .NET Remoting and XML Web Services to address
application infrastructure issues associated with building scalable enterprise
level applications used by many clients.
• Developed a Windows n-tiered “Public Library Management System”
application and then ported the application to a dynamic ASP.NET
Internet/Intranet model utilizing secure middle tier data access components.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Groton, CT 2/87 - 2/09
Systems Analyst, Database developer
• Developed a wide range of Access / Excel database products that
helped meet business objectives.
Through analysis of laboratory processes, designed and developed
♦
desktop utilities that integrated seamlessly with enterprise Oracle
databases reducing data entry time and significantly improving
productivity in production environments.
Using Visual Basic, wrote data validation utilities that capture data from
♦
laboratory instruments, analyze the data, and present the user with
quick visual reviews. In use for the last six years, this plays a critical
role in preventing error propagation.
Wrote Visual Basic reporting utilities to provide seamless exporting of
♦
Oracle and Access data into customized, functional Excel reports.
Responsible for the full design and development for combining into a
♦
single coherent, user friendly workflow, reducing the need for user
training, assuring data integrity, and tracking and organizing work.
Robotic Control System Project
Developed a software simulator that graphically presents robotic
♦
movements. This simulator dramatically reduced robotic development
time, improved the quality of the end product, reduced maintenance
times, and improved performance.
Turned error prone procedures into a user friendly system that reduced
♦
errors, virtually eliminated user training, generated e-mails to
automatically report robotic hardware errors, and logged all significant
robotic events.
Developed an operator alert mechanism that relieved operators of time
♦
consuming monitoring duties. The system had a direct impact on
productivity.
Biological Data Loading Project
• Responsible for the complete design, development, and implementation
of a flexible system for loading laboratory drug testing data into
enterprise databases.
Sole developer of an Excel VBA based data loading system for uploading
♦
raw biological laboratory data into corporate databases. Highly
regarded by users and the IT department.
Eliminated labor intensive, customized data upload efforts, by
♦
developing a seamless integration between Excel and Oracle that
supported uploads from 50+ labs, each with their own customized data
needs.
Designed and wrote a clean, consistent user interface that enforced
♦
proper workflow, automated repetitive tasks, and reduced user training
and support.
Documented process and project, with separate manuals, for Users,
♦
Implementers, and Developers
Database Administrator – Jan. 2008-Jul 2008
Awarded a six month sabbatical in Guyana, South America in an AIDS
reduction program:
Sabbatical Program. Awarded, by Pfizer in January 2008, a six month
♦
sabbatical at an AIDS reduction program in Guyana, South America as
an Access database administrator.
Created a complex AIDS monitoring and prevention Access database,
♦
designed to capture, store, and report on various AIDS prevention
programs at 20 non–government organizations throughout Guyana.
Features include: a clean and consistent user interface for data
collection, security, built in assistance, remote support, and customized
reports to integrate with Excel.
• Authored User, System Administrator, and Support Personnel manuals
and Viewlet Builder video training tool.
Created a wide range of customized leadership reports that seamlessly
♦
integrate Access and Excel.
At the end of the sabbatical, the system had been approved by the
♦
Ministry of Health, was in production use at six NGO’s, and trial use at
eight others. Improved reporting quality is directly impacting program
effectiveness. Manuals and Power Point slide deck available upon
request.
PERSONAL
Excellent health with over 23,000 miles jogging and regular swimming.
Adventurous, high-energy life style that includes 1,400 skydives, a 3,500-
mile cross-country bicycle trip in the US, two long distance bicycle trips in
Europe, and six months at sea traveling in Central America. Primary hobby
