    • ALL ABOUT FLICKR www.flickr.com By: Jay Votta June 4, 2009
    • Table of Contents  What is Flickr?  What is Flickr used for?  Benefits of Flickr  Examples of Flickr  Flickr in my Classroom  Conclusion
    • What is Flickr?  Flickris an on-line photo management and sharing application  Think of Flickr as a photo album for the digital age  Your Flickr account can be as private or public as you wish  Great way to keep in touch and up to date with family and friends  Fast and easy way to connect with others by placing posts in discussions under the group link
    • What is Flickr used for?  Flickr’s two Goals.  1) To help people make their content (photos/videos) available to the people who matter to them  2) To enable new ways of organizing photos and videos Flickr is the “WD-40” that makes it easy to get photos or videos from one person to another
    • Benefits of Flickr  Having instant access to very recent photos and historical photos to help tie into school projects and papers  When searching for photos other links are available to gain more information on certain topics  Joining discussion groups can help teachers communicate with teachers all over the world and thus come up with new ideas to make their classroom enjoyable
    •  More Benefits of Flickr  Instant access to family and friends pictures and blogs to help stay connected  Keeps personal photos and videos organized in a safe place incase of personal computer hard drive crashes
    • Examples of Flickr  http://www.flickr.com/groups/78198665@N00/  This link is for art teachers which might help them get a lesson plan idea or two while they share projects of their own. It provides a discussion board where questions and answers are posted and examples of teacher and student art can be found.  http://www.flickr.com/groups/elementaryteacher/  This link is for teachers from around the world to join this certain group to show off pictures of lessons, activities, and other things dealing with teachers and their classrooms.
    • Flickr in my Classroom  How I would use Flickr in my classroom I would use this site to post pictures of my students art work and class assignments, and invite the parents to view this site to stay connected with the work that their children are doing in my classroom.  I would use this site to introduce vibrant interesting photos to my students to keep their attention  For example if our topic was the Civil War, I would use a computer projector to show the students how to navigate this site and get realistic photos of the civil war era to make the experience as real as possible.
    • Conclusion  Flickr has many benefits for in the classroom and for personal use.  Flickr is a great online tool to teach students how important it is to stay connected with family and friends though pictures and videos.
